Your Specific Responsibilities
This professional nursing position delivers services to clients in Primary Care, Family Planning, STD, HIV, Immunizations, and Pediatrics under the direct supervision of the ACHN Director. This position is required to provide services at outlying satellite clinics of ACHD as needed and mileage will not be reimbursed. This position is required to achieve and maintain a fundamental working knowledge of the Incident Command System.
This is work in assessing patient health problems and needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and maintaining medical records. This employee administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. The incumbent may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management. This work may also include inspecting facilities and/or evaluating or providing consultation on health care programs, services, or policies.
This includes; Senior Community Health Nurse, Community Health Nurse, Registered Nurse Specialist, Nursing Program Specialist, Full and Part Time, who may be supervised by the Alachua County Health Department (ACHD) Community Health Nursing Director, Registered Nurse Consultant, Community Health Nursing Supervisor, or Nursing Program Specialist.
Some positions in this occupation may be responsible for coordinating work and supervising employees.

Nursing
Community Health Clinic:
The Community Health Clinic Nurse Will
- Apply nursing principles and techniques in the care and treatment of clients
- Administer prescribed medications ensuring the Rights of Medication Administration
- Log out all medications administered
- Utilize nursing protocols in the care of clients
- Provide client and family education and make appropriate referrals as indicated
- Evaluate Immunization status and administer immunizations per protocol using correct techniques as outlined in procedure manual
- Accurately document all services provided
- Works in Special Needs Shelters and in emergencies and/or natural disasters to provide direct patient care or support.
Quality Improvement And Assurance
The Community Health Clinic Nurse will:
- Assist with chart reviews and other QI activities to improve clinic functions and to meet the ACHD mission statement and goals.
- Attend professional meetings to maintain and update nursing skills
- Will attend staff meetings or be required to read the minutes to maintain working knowledge of changes in the organization
- Will assist with the orientation of new employees and students
Team Building
The Community Health Clinic Nurse will:
- Assist with orientation of new employees and students
- Function as a team member by utilizing effective communication skills, assisting practitioners, and demonstrating leadership skills to support staff.
Other Job-related Requirements For This Position
Required to complete ICS 100 and NIMS 700 within 3 months of initial employment and provide documentation of successful completion. Required to attend any additional ICS or NIMS training as assigned.
Incumbent may be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency operation functions of the incumbent include but are not limited to special needs shelters, Red Cross Shelters, or other emergency functions.
In the event the Nurse elects to be reimbursed for travel, they will be responsible for initiating and entering all information into the SMTS system accurately and on time.
Responsible for securing the designated information sets for the purposes of protecting confidentiality, data integrity, and appropriate access, for all information, both confidential and public record, which is stored in hard copy or electronic format.
Demonstrates initiative in performance of assigned responsibilities, potential problems, or opportunities for improvement. Exhibits interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member. Follows attendance, punctuality, and proper dress rules. Maintains expertise in assigned area and manages time efficiently. Models and maintains high ethical standards. Direct the work of the school health technician, medical technician, or LPN assigned to clinic.
Attend all staff meetings and workshops as appropriate.
Demonstrates effective skills of listening, speaking, and writing. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with team members, school personnel, parents, students, supervisors, and outside agencies. Works with principal, support staff, teachers, parents, and/or clinical team and support personnel to improve health services. Assists with and/or completes incident/accident reports as appropriate.
Physical Requirements: May require lifting up to 50 pounds. May require the transfer/assistance of a client/student in a wheelchair to attend to personal needs etc. Use of proper body mechanics are required and expected. Mobility expected to be able to transverse large work area for responding to emergencies and providing services. 75% - 100% hearing and eyesight required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Qualifications
Minimum - This occupation requires licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes and in accordance with Rule 64B9, Florida Administrative Code, American Heart First Aid and CPR certification, and valid driver’s license.
Preferred Experience working in fast paced, environment serving all ages and populations.
