Job Profile and Objectives
The Paralegal is responsible for assisting the General Counsel in the administration and coordination of the legal, contractual, compliance, and risk management activities of the company. Additionally, the Paralegal researches law, investigates facts, and prepares and maintains legal documents such as contracts, corporate governance, and other legal agreements for review, approval, and use by General Counsel. The paralegal shall also assist the General Counsel to manage pending litigation. The paralegal prepares, maintains and files correspondence and legal documents in the office
filing system, and ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal issues
- Perform legal reviews for compliance with applicable policies and practices, regulations, and laws
- Draft and revise correspondence and legal documents, such as contracts, leases, and settlement agreements
- Draft and update franchise documents
- Summarize company contracts
- Assist in responding to regulatory inquiries
- Assist with pending litigation, including initial drafting, legal research, and discovery
- Analyze and input data into company databases and spreadsheets
- Maintain and organize files paper and/or electronic format
- Build relationships with the various company departments
- Maintain confidentiality of company information
- Keep track of pending deadlines for legal department
- Work with outside counsel
- Additional ad hoc tasks as required by General Counsel
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary degree
- Prior paralegal experience; Florida Certified Paralegal preferred

- Excellent skills in analytical thinking, specifically, ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts and develop substantiated conclusions
- Ability to manage multiple projects that require interaction with a variety of departments and types of information

- Ability to work effectively and deliver work product under multiple time deadlines
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and analyze information skillfully with minimal supervision.

- Ability to express facts and ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Lexis-Nexis or Westlaw research
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Obtains clarification for tasks where necessary
